There are so many restaurants in Prague that it is impossible to visit even the most iconic places in one trip. One of the most popular places is the Švejk restaurant, which hides not only legends but also historical moments because it was opened even before the First World War. Previously, it was a small, little-known pub, which was visited only by residents to relax after a hard day. After the publication of the satirical novel by Jaroslav Hasek "The Adventures of the Gallant Soldier Švejk During the World War," interest in the restaurant increased significantly. The main character Josef Schweik often visited this place and many adventures are connected with this pub. Interestingly, the prototype of the owner of the restaurant Palivets was the assistant waiter, who also liked to use foul language and had a very strict character.
The institution will be especially interesting for fans of Hasek's art, but other tourists will also get a lot of pleasant impressions. First of all, you should pay attention to the interior of the establishment. Here, the walls are painted with thematic drawings, there are quotes from the novel, and tourists can also leave their drawings. Schweik himself sits at a table at the entrance, and in the evening's musicians in the uniform of the Austro-Hungarian army play in the pub. On one of the walls, there is even a portrait of Emperor Franz Joseph, who is mentioned by Hasek in the novel. You can drink beer and taste Czech cuisine at antique tables, which seem to be carried over to the past century.
If you want to bring an interesting souvenir or gift from Prague, be sure to go to the restaurant's souvenir shop, which sells branded beer glasses, plates, ashtrays, caps and other interesting items.

Which of the pubs "at Schweik" in Prague is the same
Admirers of Jaroslav Hasek's creativity, going to Prague, undoubtedly want to visit the pub, in which the adventures of the Brave Soldier Schweik began. Today, the fictional character is the national hero of the Czech Republic, whose name is unceremoniously exploited by Prague pubs. But in the book of Yaroslav Hasek, it was about a specific pub, which still stands in the same place today - this is the pub "U Kalicha". This institution is located at Na Bojišti 12-14, Prague 2.
