The interior includes five magnificent oak altars, decorated with sculptures of the Virgin Mary, St. Teresa and other saints; the main altar is dedicated to the heart of Jesus. The cathedral has three feretrons, preserved from the 18th century, one made in the form of Baroque, two more in the form of neo-Rococo. The harsh historical events of the 20th century have spared the cathedral, leaving it without heavy damages, requesting just minor repairs and later additions as for example the stained glass windows of the main altar, which depict the first bishops of Livonia – St.

Maynard and St. Albert. Since 1995 it is the center of the Rezekne- Aglona diocese.
